ESCANABA — The Kingsford boys varsity team pushed Escanaba to the brink before the Eskymos prevailed 5-3 in a dual match on Tuesday in Escanaba.

Escanaba’s No. 3 doubles team of Trevor Mathieson and Ethan Siedlevki edged Eli Wallis and Charlie Christeson 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 to record the Eskymos’ winning point.

The Flivvers captured the other two three-set matches. No. 2 singles Niko Prezelakowski took over late to defeat Connor Smale 4-6, 6-4, 6-0, while Jacob Saari and Morgan Sleik fought back to upend Troy Delvaux and Bradly Pierce 4-6, 7-6 (3), 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.

Kingsford’s other two wins came from No. 3 singles Gavin Moore, who defeated Jackson Cousineau 6-3, 7-5, and No. 4 doubles duo Hunter Hulkonen and Cale Harris, who knocked off Trent Lyyski and Tristan McGuire 6-3, 6-3.

NEGAUNEE — The talented Negaunee Miners had little trouble with West Iron County, winning all 12 sets in their victory Monday in Negaunee.

The Wykons (1-3-2) were only able to capture 12 games in the match, while the Miners did not surrender more than two games in any set during the day.
