Nick’s, a beloved old-fashioned live music venue, bar and restaurant in Worcester, will close down next month but will reopen under new management and with a new name.

In a Facebook post, Nick’s announced to its patrons that it has sold the business to long-time employee Frank Inangelo and his wife Mara. Entrusting the business to the employee of over 20 years, the current owners Nicole Watson and Vincent Hemmeter wrote they are “confident” in the couple’s “successful new venture.”

Mara Inangelo wrote on Facebook that she and her husband are opening a cocktail bar at Nick’s location at 124 Millbury St. that will be called “Steel & Wire.”

At the new bar, set to open this spring after Nick’s slated closure on April 4, Mara Inangelo said “We plan to honor the Nick’s legacy and the integrity of this historic bar space while serving up expertly crafted cocktails, delicious comfort food, and the best in local music.”

She added that further details surrounding the opening, events and more will be disclosed in the future.

The current ownership wrote in their announcement that Nick’s will continue with a full calendar of events until its closure in early April, while also thanking their staff and the talent which have been at Nick’s over the past 15 years.

“This has been an emotional decision but we feel the timing is right,” Watson and Hemmeter wrote.
